The Project
Project Details
Melbourne Grand is Central Equity’s $450 million apartment tower located at 560 Lonsdale Street in Melbourne’s CBD. Designed by high-profile architects Guilford Bell and Graham Fisher Architects, this high-rise residential tower spans 57 levels with a range of generously sized one, two and three-bedroom configurations. The project includes the refurbishment of 556 Lonsdale Street, one of Melbourne’s oldest surviving buildings constructed between 1855 and 1878. The restoration ensures the long-term preservation of this state heritage-listed building, with its integration within Melbourne Grand adding character to the development.
To meet the highest performance and sustainability standards, the project focused on:
- Delivering reliable waterproofing protection across 57 levels of luxury residential construction in Melbourne’s CBD
- Providing sensitive solutions for heritage building integration, ensuring preservation of the state-listed 1855–1878 structure
- Ensuring long-term durability and performance for a $450 million mixed-use development combining contemporary and historic architecture
Envirosystems Solution
Envirosystems waterproofing solutions were installed across a variety of applications throughout the Melbourne Grand build. The scope encompassed diverse waterproofing requirements across the 57-level residential tower, including wet areas, balconies, plant rooms and supporting infrastructure.
The project also addressed the sensitive integration of the heritage-listed 556 Lonsdale Street building, ensuring appropriate waterproofing protection for the restored 19th-century structure while maintaining its historic character. The Envirosystems solutions provided reliable, long-term protection for this significant development, contributing to both the preservation of Melbourne’s architectural heritage and the delivery of premium contemporary residential spaces in the heart of the CBD.
